What affects the cost of water damage restoration in Florida?
This is a summary. For worked examples, regional differences, and how to compare quotes, read our full guide: how much water damage restoration costs in Florida. To understand the water types used in the calculator, see water damage categories and classes.
- How fast drying starts. Water that sits for 48 hours or more soaks deeper, costs more to dry, and risks mold.
- Water category. Clean water from a supply line costs less than gray water, and black water (sewage or floodwater) costs the most because materials must be removed and disinfected.
- Materials. Carpet and pad, drywall, hardwood, and insulation each have different removal and drying needs.
- Square footage and depth. More wet area means more air movers and dehumidifiers running for more days.
- Location. South Florida and the Keys generally cost more than the Panhandle and Heartland because of labor and logistics.
- Access and timing. High-rise units, tight spaces, and after-hours calls add labor.

Frequently asked questions
How accurate is this water damage cost calculator?
It gives a planning range based on typical Florida pricing, the size of the affected area, the water category, and your region. It is not a quote. A technician still has to measure moisture and inspect hidden areas before pricing a job.
Why is there a range instead of one price?
Water damage is priced by what is actually wet, and that is not fully visible from the surface. A range reflects normal variation in labor, equipment days, and materials.
Does the estimate include repairs and rebuilding?
No. It covers mitigation work: extraction, drying, cleaning, and removal of damaged materials. Rebuilding, painting, flooring replacement, roofing, and plumbing repairs are separate.
Will insurance pay for this?
Many Florida policies cover sudden and accidental water damage but exclude flood and long-term seepage. Check your policy and call your agent before you start any work you want reimbursed. We document everything for your claim.
